Há músicas com as quais ficamos logo de orelhas levantadas ou porque o instrumental é muito bom, ou porque a voz chama a atenção. Por vezes ganhamos a lotaria e temos ambos ao mesmo tempo. Com Tommy Champion foi este último. À primeira audição estranhei um pouco, à segunda audição a mistura das mais diversas origens musicais entranhou-se de tal maneira que achei a combinação tão inusitada quanto luxuriante.
Combining Mellotron, Moog Synthesizers, Rhodes, and Hammond B3 with heavy rhythm and horn sections, “Rabbit Hole” draws strong influence from the analog and celestial sounds of the 1970s. Beckoning the listener down ‘the rabbit hole’ with his breathy baritone, Tommy examines ideas of anxiety and existential uncertainty in his lyrics. The blend of psychedelia, funk, jazz fusion, indie and progressive rock makes for a haunting and mind-altering listening experience.
É quase como se automaticamente entrássemos num filme que oscila entre a imagética ainda a preto e branco e o contemporâneo, levando-nos entre jogos de luzes e sombras a um lugar desconhecido, mas curioso. Existe uma aura de mistério que torna este tema cinematográfico e intemporal. Sem dúvida um artista a ter debaixo de olho.
